  • HI! Missy, Congrats! She looks so lovely! Agreed with you! I did with my 2 daughters when they were born. For years, They have no problem learning sign languages and speaking.

Enjoy being a mother again 😉

  • I agree. Did the same to our KODA kids. Why wait?? And I do get asked those questions. Because my kids are older, questions are now more like when did I teach them signs? Since birth I say, and I get shocked responses. 🙂

Funny, I was watching Safari while you were signing and noticed that she appeared to be looking at the computer screen, possibly watching her mommy talk. So she is learning ASL even tho she is not looking directly at you! 🙂

  • I sign to my 5 months old! Been doing it since she was born! Thanks for sharing! You look great!!! Miss you!

Thank you for sharing about signing baby!

  • Loved your discussion on how we communicate with our babies. Safari looks so adorable while you explain to the viewers about how we talk with our little ones.

  • I have 3 boys. When they born, we sign to them since growing up. By the way, glad to see you back here in your vlog. Looking forward to seeing your next vlogs. Aloha!!

  • Wow Safari look like Dave so much! Cute baby! Amen what you said. I do to my two deaf children. I learned something different between girl and boy expressive signs. Girl expressive signs more earlier than boy. Interested!

  • Yes, I agreed. I m deaf myself. i had three hearing children. I used to sign ASL with my children when they were babies. My aunt and cousin were shocked that my kids fluent ASL as early become interpreter.

  • Missy…… My hearing sister does teach sign language to her hearing son since birth. Baby sign are more common than you think. There a lot of diversity of people who can hear very well do use it to their hearing babies more than anyone who thinks it is only deaf people.

Just keep an open mind there are good people out there to understand the aspects of Sign communication….

Congratulations on your newest child in your family household. Keep up the good work Missy……

  • Ahem…. I do still get people’s questionaires about my kids if they’ll signing and when did they started. All I did tell them, since they birth and signing with anything what you signs! My first kid is deaf and knew a lot of words in books and signs when she was 5 month old now she becomes so smart than my time. Next my kid is hard of hearing, now 2 years old, I still signing to him. He signs to everyone in store or resturant or everywhere… people were so amazing at him, like yesterday I took him to the beach. One of mothers was so staring at us because she wanted her kid to learn ASL. I start teaching them in ASL and we had a good time at the beach! Way to go, Missy and Congrats with your new additional kid 🙂

  • Hey Missy,
I feel like I know you. I watch you in all of my school videos learning ASL/INT. You are wonderful and I love your stories. I am an actress and director and have made a living making tv commercials and film. I am a true fan of “Missy’s View.” It is helping me so much with my voicing skills and I feel like I am getting a little “magazine” article, too. Your insights and topics are very fun! Thanks so much for doing these.
Looking forward to many, many more!
    Your fan,
    Dawn

  • Exactly before I was foster mom because foster older daughter is deaf and her sister hearing is 4 old something she don’t know anything about sign language when I started to care of both daughters I keep communicate and showing little girl with sign language without voice why because I am deafness I mean how to do something sample when I make sandwich for them ” Do you want apple ” then I show apple to her with sign language she motive and learn very quick so impressive …. no matter what is mean… open mind in other new world …. that is what I explained older daughter important but she won’t listen me little sad anwyay I tried everything that I lived with them in short term. thanks for Missy and I strongly agree with Missy … 🙂

    • not teach no good because of overhelm or not pay attend either only important to communicate or talk or ask or show whatever with sign language alike natural as normal easy to learn quick … 🙂

  • Anyway, Baby’s so cute..Sure does look comfy while Missy was signing and rocking ( not intentionally) her around!! Guess babies are lucky to have deaf parents cuz they get to be rocked while parent’s are talking..

  • Hi missy!
I have two deaf children, and I have 3 hearing nephew/nieces that I teach ASL when they were babies. They all can sign by 4 months old. I definitely agree, keep signing to them, they will sign when they feel it’s right for them. 🙂 love your videos.

  • hey missy when i born my new son in 1985 and i started to culture with asl and sign languages all the times to my son till he grew up and now he is 27 years old and many deaf friends and hearing friends thought that my son is deaf and he is not and he is hearing but his skill become as deaf asl and also i never ask my son to be my interpreter if i need and he always offer to be interpreter if i need wow and he really be very wonderful guy to me! i am agreed with you to use asl with your new baby girl! by kim

  • Hi, I am wondering if any deaf person has the music from their mind ? I did asked several deaf people about the music from their mind for example when their mind has music as playing it as any kind of music like cassical , jazz, blue and so on before falling into sleep. Most of them are their mind of no sound at all. I did listen any music from what i heard it with my hearing aid as i growing up hearing world before i learned ASL after high school without speical educaiton at all until i learned ASL as cause impovement my speaking from strong vocabulary. by the way i am profound deaf since 1 year old inflant and never learns until after high school. My mother was speech theory major plus she never told me about her own disable learns as waste of her way against ASL but i has sound of mind and never into oral school as very dislike it. wish to say more but i has great experience from deaf culture and still both worlds as still contact with old hearing friends. It was odd way as understood from I felt like I am only deaf person in the world as that is my family’s many issued .
